El siglo de los cirujanos comenzó el 16 de octubre de 1846, cuando se practicó la primera operación sin dolor, gracias a la anestesia, en el Massachussetts General Hospital. Durante los cien años que siguieron a esa fecha histórica, la cirugía dio grandes pasos para liberar a la humanidad del dolor, las infecciones y la enfermedad, pero los descubrimientos más trascendentes fueron objeto de menosprecio y resistencia por parte del propio estamento médico.

Hacia finales del siglo xix, los grandes avances de la medicina permitieron el acceso de los cirujanos a partes del cuerpo humano intocables hasta entonces, como el hígado, el cerebro, la médula espinal, los pulmones o la tiroides, e hicieron posible innovaciones que parecieron prodigiosas, como el trasplante de córnea, que sentaron los principios de la cirugía moderna.

En 2008, al publicar Hilo de nadie (DVD, Barcelona) se colaron entre los aforismos en prosa una serie de poemas en verso, sin puntua-ción. Esos poemas, como trozos desgajados de un posible texto de mayor recorrido, como células iniciales de algo en gestación, vinie-ron a reforzar la intención del autor de acercar el género aforístico al fragmento poético. Ya en 2006 había aparecido Vértices, un breve libro editado por el Centro Cultural Generación del 27. Tres movimien-tos constituye una suerte de continuación, en su dinámica y en su forma, de aquellas muestras, unos «Segundos vértices» que tendrán también nuevos hermanos. La palabra «movimiento» quiere esbozar-los en su transcurso, como si fluyesen y estuviesen de paso sobre el papel. También apunta al magnetismo de lo musical. Y marca incluso una vocación plástica en la disposición del poema, que dibuja varia-dos trípticos de pensamientos e imágenes. En Tres movimientos caben las claves de una mirada poética, sugeridas, apuntadas, abiertas, en fuga. Por eso este libro tiene algo de semillero. La tierra, el agua, el aire para que crezca la traen a estas páginas la imaginación y la respi-ración de cada lector.
